Bank House

Brief

A kitchen consisting of free-standing individual pieces of furniture, semi-integrated to maximise the space in a design which is both quirky and traditional and can incorporate all existing appliances

Solution

Two traditional-style pot cupboards sit either side of the existing range cooker in this kitchen to cleverly utilise the space available whilst creating the look and feel of free-standing furniture. This is complimented by the free-standing drawer unit on the far side of the sink unit which offers the same essential storage whilst enhancing the free-standing look. The country-style sink unit has been hand-painted in a pale blue to add a modern and quirky touch to this otherwise traditional style whilst a full height cupboard at the far side of the room offers yet more storage whilst the juxtaposition of the black granite worktops with the warm cherry wood of the sink unit worktop cleverly combines the modern with the traditional to once again enhance the free-standing design whilst adding a unique touch.

What the client said

We had an extension approximately 3 years ago, and on the suggestion of a friend, asked James Reeve to visit and suggest a few ideas for our new kitchen. James obviously obviously has the skill and design flair to provide us with a “freestanding” hand built kitchen, using a variety of materials from marble, tulip wood and Cherry. It is now over 3 years since we had the kitchen fitted, and we are still thrilled with the quality of the craftsmanship, and the fact that it was considerably cheaper than the more well known alternatives! I would recommend James Reeve to anybody that wants a quality, individual, kitchen.
